Our History:

Summer Hill Building & Contracting, Inc started life in 1987 as a partnership.  Performing

sub-contracting work in;  roofing, siding, framing,  trim installation and  kitchen installation and

general contracting to the public.

Soon the business became a sole proprietorship, doing the same kind of work. Subcontracting to

builders in Schuylkill and Berks county, and throughout central Pennsylvania.

In 1990 we started building Custom Homes along with our sub-contracting work. Over the years,

we have built many hundreds of new homes and additions throughout Schuylkill & Berks

Counties.

Now we are focusing our attention on new, Distinctive, high quality "Spec Homes" for sale,

Custom Homes &  Custom Additions and Attached & Detached Garages. Along with a mix of

higher end remodeling projects.

In the 23 years since Summer Hill Building & Contracting, Inc. opened its doors, we have

become a fixture in Schuylkill County for the highest quality construction and have earned the

respect and trust of our Clients & Friends.

My name is Robert H. Leiby, Jr.  I am the Owner, CEO ( chief everything officer), and Master Builder at  Summer Hill Building & Contracting, Inc. 

I was born in 1955 to a hard working family in Lancaster PA.  My father, Robert Leiby was a Master Journeyman in Masonry and ran his own masonry business in Lancaster county.

I worked in his company most of my early life, first as a mason tender then later as a "Journeyman Mason".  That experience taught me about hard work and doing “what ever it took” to get the job done with quality and in a timely manner.  Later, with my new wife, we moved up  to Schuylkill County where land was still relatively in-expensive and built our dream home on our little “Hunk of Heaven.”  After moving here I worked for various builders and subcontractors learning as much about all facets of residential construction as I could.  In 1987 I started Summer Hill Building & Contracting along with a partner. We soon parted company as do many partnerships and I assumed the ownership of the business.  Since then, I have been learning and building and honing my skills trying to become the best builder I could be.  I greatly enjoy building  homes and try to do as much of the work myself as I can. I subcontract what I can’t do well and I supervise each project like it where my own home with quality and efficiency.
